Why Crowders?
The answer is simple: affordability for our families. Our hope is that all families who desire to send kids to camp are able to do so. In years past, the cost of our summer camp had been subsidized through the student ministry budget—the primary cost of which was an $18,000+ rental of charter buses for a 4.5-hour drive. Such a gesture is not sustainable for the foreseeable future. Moreover, if summer plans remain the same as years prior, that cost would be passed on to our families. Therefore, an alternative was carefully considered and prayed over. As our church has continued to Reach, Raise, and Release more and more undeniable followers of Jesus Christ, we have sought ways to be responsively creative with our stewardship.

For this reason, Crowders was chosen as our  exciting summer camp adventure! Crowders Camp is closer (roughly 2 hours from Burlington), and families can carpool a reasonable distance. This keeps us from having to add an enormous cost to the price of summer camp. The shortened distance also gives families quicker access to their students in the case of emergencies or disciplinary actions. Another great advantage gained in attending Crowders is the cabin-style sleeping arrangements. Everyone will be in large open rooms. Students will no longer sleep in dorm-style rooms where behaviors and actions are away from the eyes of their adult leaders. This change in sleeping arrangements will discourage some of the more egregious actions that have led to students being sent home in the past. It will also encourage a sense of comradery and community that dorm-style rooms cannot offer.

At the end of the day, we desire to honor the Lord by properly stewarding every aspect of the student ministry. As a team, we prayerfully considered all of the options available and determined Crowders to be the best decision for the students and families who we have the privilege of serving. Please feel free to reach out if you need any clarification on Crowders Camp.
